BrickSeek Basics: Common Questions & Troubleshooting Tips 🛠

Whether you're new to BrickSeek or have been around a while, there’s a good chance you’ve run into a few questions like:

“Why does it say the item is in stock, but it’s not at my store?”
“Why isn’t the price in the store matching what BrickSeek shows?”
“Why haven’t I seen any great deals lately?”

We get it. And we’ve got answers.

🔑 BrickSeek is a powerful tool—but like any tool, understanding how it works is key to getting the most out of it. This post covers the most common questions we see and gives you clear, helpful tips to overcome them.

❓ Common Questions & What You Should Know

🔍 “BrickSeek says it’s in stock, but the store associate says it’s not. Why?”

BrickSeek pulls inventory directly from retailer systems —but in-store stock can change rapidly due to:

• Delays in system updates
• Store errors, theft or damaged inventory
• Items in carts, on hold or misplaced on shelves

What to do:

Double-check the UPC at the store . Even a single digit difference in the UPC means it is a different item. (Yellow box in the images below.)

Politely ask a team member to scan the item’s BrickSeek Snapshot or Inventory Checker scannable barcode with a store issued device to confirm the on-hand count, pricing and if there is a last known location. (In the image below, the red arrow is pointing at the barcode icon. Click that icon for a scannable barcode pop-up.)

Clearance items may not be located with regular full priced items and may no longer have an assigned location. The more deeply discounted an item, the longer it may have been on clearance and the greater the likelihood that it is not with full priced similar items. They may now be located in a designated clearance area, end cap, random location, top stock or even in a stock room.

Clearance items may or may not have updated current pricing stickers or labels. (Scan the item’s UPC with the BrickSeek app to see pricing at that location, other locations and other retailers.)

Some stores move clearance items to the stock room temporarily for clearance stickers then when there is space in a clearance area, they are brought back to the sales floor.

Be prepared that real-time stock updates aren't always perfectly accurate (even internally!)

💡 Pro-Tip: Always have your BrickSeek app open at stores for easy access to both the item’s Snapshot and Inventory Checker.

🏷 “Why is the price in-store different than what BrickSeek shows?”

Clearance prices are often set at the store level, especially at retailers like Lowes and Home Depot. That means:

• Store A may mark an item down to $15
• Store B still has it at full price
• And yes—managers can override pricing

What to do:

Verify you're at the same store BrickSeek pulled the pricing from (use the Snapshot Page for store-specific data)

Confirm that the UPC matches (All 12 digits must match.)

BrickSeek pulls data directly from the retailers so, the information for a specific item at a specific store should match but, there could be a delay in the system update.

Understand that price and availability vary regionally and even by individual stores. (See image below.)
💡 Pro-Tip: If the price has not dropped in your region or favorite store, add that item to your BrickSeek Shopping List. BrickSeek will monitor that item and send a “Shopping List Alert” when a deal is detected.

🙋 “Why do retailers show different information? Why do some retailers show in-store pricing and on-hand counts but others do not? What does “Product is not available to search now” mean?

• Retailers share different information. This information may change over time.

• Each retailer determines what information it will share.

• For instance, Lowes and Home Depot share in-store clearance pricing and on-hand counts. Walmart and Target share pick-up pricing and online pricing but not in-store prices or counts.

• If a retailer no longer sells an item in its stores or it is sold out in all of the local stores within an inventory checker search, that “product is not available to be searched”. (For instance, Lowes may have sold out of that item in your search area but may be searchable in a different region.)

• For retailers that share pickup and online information only, if the item is not available for pickup that “product is not available to be searched“ via its inventory checker. (For instance, an item at Walmart may not be available for pickup which means that “product is not available to be searched”.)

• If you encounter “product is not available to search right now”, click the “learn more” link to see additional information. Click the “v” to see a list of the retail locations that were searched.

📉 “Why haven’t I seen any amazing deals lately?”

Deals come in waves. Timing is everything. One week, it's TVs and tech. Next, it's patio furniture or power tools.

What to do:

Max out your 10 Deal Alerts for better coverage

Adjust alerts based on seasons (toys during holidays, outdoor items in spring)

Watch your email and app notifications closely—when deals pop, you’ll want to act fast

Be patient—your big deal might be tomorrow

📦 “The item I want is always out of stock. What gives?”

Popular or deeply discounted items go fast—sometimes within minutes. BrickSeek helps you be early, but you still have to move quickly.

What to do:

Add high-interest items to your Shopping List to monitor 24/7

Use Snapshot Pages to see where it's in stock nearby

Set mobile app notifications to “on” so you don’t miss alerts and confirm that you have selected “Push” notifications in your account settings.

🧭 “Why is my friend seeing different deals than me?”

This often comes down to:

• Store selection (My Stores)

• Deal Alerts setup

• Geographic inventory differences

Even a 10-mile difference can produce totally different results. If your friend is tracking different stores, they might get alerts you won’t.

What to do:

Update your My Stores list to expand your reach

Review your Deal Alerts and categories

Adjust filters to see more options including Deal Rating, Deal Type and Price Range.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
