5 College Dorm Room Essentials

Back-to-school season is officially here! Sometimes the hype surrounding the return to a new school year can focus on younger students, but there are deals to be found on dorm essentials, too! Here are five must-have items for every college student:

1. Hot Pot

Most dorm rooms lack a kitchen space, which can turn something as simple as boiling water into a huge inconvenience. Enter the Hot Pot. It’s small, easy to store, and easy to use. If you need to cook something that involves boiling water, then this is your go-to small appliance. It’s great for making tea, soup, oatmeal, and pasta — including the college staple food, Ramen Noodles.

2. Hanging Silverware Caddy

The lack of kitchen space in a dorm room means that there aren’t drawers for storing silverware. A hanging silverware caddy is compact and can be tucked into a corner and out of the way. Having silverware handy is perfect for takeout or leftovers and cuts down on the need for disposable plastic cutlery.

3. Water Filter and Dispenser

An extra large filtered water dispenser is perfect for dorm living. It usually only needs to be filled once every few days and stores conveniently on any shelf. Having a water dispenser on hand also eliminates the need for disposable water bottles and their bulky packaging.

4. Mattress Topper

Long known as a dorm room must-have, a mattress topper can transform a flimsy, uncomfortable foam slab into your go-to comfy spot. Mattress toppers today are made from several different materials, such as traditional foam or self-cooling gel foam and are available in various thicknesses.

5. First Aid Kit

We’ve all seen the fail videos on YouTube that would suggest it’s a good idea to have a first aid kit on-hand at college. A few bandages, some OTC pain relievers, and some cold packs are good to have around, and a first aid kit keeps it all organized without taking up precious space.

Are you shopping to outfit a dorm room this school season? What are your top must-haves for today’s college student? Comment below, and let us know!

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
